Kaʻū Red Bourbon is a mesmerizing single-origin that highlights the delicate beauty of the Red Bourbon variety. An heirloom Arabica variety known for its elegant structure and sweetness, and celebrated for its exceptional complexity and balanced fruit-like notes.
When grown in the mineral-rich soils and mist-laced elevations of Kaʻū—a region famed for producing some of the world's most lauded coffees—it expresses a profile that’s both ethereal and grounded, perfect for weekends and weekdays alike. The result is a cup layered with florals, spice, and deep sweetness, reflecting the land's richness and the hands that cultivated it.
We love this coffee for its rich, indulgent character—dark chocolate, candied violet, and salted caramel form the foundation of its deep, satisfying expression. We like to describe it as eating the most decadent chocolate lava cake.
Medium-Light - 95 Points: The blind assessment described it as: “Balanced, richly sweet, nuanced and complex… gently bright, sparkling acidity; very full, satiny mouthfeel. Resonant, integrated, satisfying finish.”
Bottom Line: A rare and radiant expression of Hawaiian terroir. This washed Red Bourbon enchants with a dark chocolate throughline, perfumed florals, and a hint of umami—balanced, resonant, and deeply satisfying.

Because Espresso Bites are made without stabilizers or preservatives, they may bloom or melt when shipping temperatures exceed 80 F. If this is a concern in your location please select FedEx shipping.
If you notice a white color to your bar, it's perfectly safe to eat. This happens when the cocoa butter softens and migrates to the surface. It happens more often when shipping in warm weather. Learn more about blooming.
Espresso Bites that melt or bloom when shipped via FedEx are eligible for a full refund or credit.
Espresso Bites that melt or bloom when the buyer elects Free Shipping or standard USPS are eligible for a credit.
